Biography

Kevin "KonKwon" Kwon was born in Seoul, South Korea and was raised in Tokyo, Japan. After 8th grade, Kevin moved to New Jersey and lived there until summer of 2014 and moved to California. He is taking a break from completing his business degree at Rutgers University to pursue a professional League of Legends career.

2014 Season

KonKwon played on GamesterGear with Flaresz, Thinkcard, Yusui and WizFujiiN but the team never managed to qualify for any major tournaments before he left the team in September of 2014.

2015 Season

KonKwon joined Team Dragon Knights in January of 2015. The team played in the 2015 NA CS Spring Qualifier where they 2-0'd Team Frostbite and Storm to qualify for the 2015 NA CS Spring Season. He left the team in February, prior to the start of the regular season.[23] Just before the third week of play, KonKwon joined Final Five, replacing Rule18 as their starting support.

On March 15, KonKwon joined Team Coast and replaced Sheep as part of a larger roster change that included swapping Impaler and Sheep to Final Five.[24] Prior to the roster change, Coast were at a 1-13 record but they still lost their remaining games, ending the split with a 1-17 record. Because Coast ended in last place, they were automatically relegated to the 2015 NA CS Summer Season. In the NACS, they won the round robin by beating Renegades in a tiebreaker match. However in the 2015 NA CS Summer Playoffs, they lost 3-2 to Renegades in the finals to finish in second place. They still qualified for the 2016 NA LCS Promotion Tournament, where they played against Enemy. Coast beat NME 3-0 and requalified for the 2016 NA LCS Spring Season.

2016 Season

Coast's LCS slot was bought out by NRG eSports in November 2015. KonKwon was the only member of the Coast to be on the NRG starting roster. NRG started the LCS strong, tied for either first or second place through the first four weeks, but after the fifth week they fell down to fifth place and remained there for the rest of the season. They were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs.

KonKwon joined Apex Pride for the NACS Summer Season in June and was also listed as a substitute for sister team Apex Gaming. After a fifth-place finish left them short of the Summer Playoffs, KonKwon announced his retirement from League of Legends, stating "I think I'm not good enough to be where I want to be."[25][26] He remained a substitute on the main roster. However, in December he joined Big Gods Jackals, who had acquired Eanix's NACS 2017 Spring Qualifiers slot, and helped them to qualify for the NACS 2017 Spring with a 3-0 victory over Team Secret.

2017 Season

KonKwon remained with Big Gods Jackals until February as a substitute but did not play in a game. He then joined Team Liquid as a substitute, but was again not called upon. KonKwon did play in the NACS 2017 Summer Open Qualifier for a reformed Team Liquid Academy but failed to reach the finals.

He remained as a sub with Liquid for the NA LCS 2017 Summer, and with the team struggling, was moved to the active roster for Week 4. Liquid went 1-1 in series with him playing but after a loss to Echo Fox in the first game of Week 5, Matt was subbed back in. Liquid would finish in ninth and have to play in the promotion tournament to retain their LCS slot, but KonKwon would not be called upon again. He then left the team in November.

2018 Season

KonKwon joined TSM as a translator for the NA LCS 2018 Spring. However, in the midseason, he was picked up by FlyQuest for the NA LCS 2018 Summer, and renamed to Kwon. Unfortunately, his LCS return would be brief, as after a 1-3 start he was demoted to FlyQuest Academy and JayJ was promoted to take his place. Kwon played out the remainder of the academy season with FQA, who finished 10-8, good enough for fifth place. They defeated Clutch Gaming Academy in the playoff quarterfinals, but then lost to first-seeded Cloud9 Academy, ending their season. Kwon then left the team and again announced his retirement as a player, electing to return to college.
